DHL Strategy 2030: EUR 500 million Investment into Asia Pacific under DHL Health Logistics

September 1, 2025 | Monday | News

As part of its Strategy 2030: “Accelerate sustainable growth”, DHL Group has unveiled a strategic investment to deliver next-level healthcare through the DHL Health Logistics brand across the next five years. This initiative is part of DHL’s commitment to capitalise on growth opportunities and respond to fast-growing sectors like Life Sciences and Healthcare.

To effectively address the growing needs and evolving structure of this sector, DHL is investing €500 million into Asia Pacific markets to cater to the demands of the region’s rising spending power, growing middle class, and rapidly aging populations which have brought about healthcare innovation and investment over the past few years.

DHL Group has more than 30 years of experience in this area and is well-positioned to address the transformations of healthcare supply chains. Through this strategic investment, the enhancement of high-quality infrastructure and technology across all logistics touchpoints, including storage, order fulfilment, distribution, global shipping, and last-mile delivery, will be prioritized. This is expected to create more resilient, scalable, and responsive supply chains.

Other key DHL initiatives include the establishment of new Pharma Hubs for multi-temperature shipment lanes, expansion of cold chain capacity in existing facilities, commissioning of new temperature-controlled vehicles, and improvement of both passive and active packaging solutions to ensure more sustainable delivery. With over 300,000 square meters of compliant warehousing in the Asia Pacific region and nearly 600 dedicated sites for life sciences and healthcare logistics globally, DHL is well-positioned to adapt to the evolving demands of the healthcare industry.

As the volume of clinical trials, biopharma, and cell and gene therapies continues to rise, the demand for specialized cooling infrastructure capable of accommodating temperature-sensitive shipments as low as -196°C (cryogenic) is increasing too. DHL’s cryogenic capabilities allows companies to transport a diverse range of products safely, from insulin which needs to be refrigerated to stem cells and experimental mRNA vaccines which need to be shipped at cryogenic temperatures. To strengthen its pharma specialized network, DHL recently acquired CRYOPDP, a leading specialty pharma courier service, providing a globally integrated and end-to-end solution for specialty pharmaceuticals and clinical trials.

As the life sciences and healthcare landscape evolves, DHL's comprehensive logistics offerings ensure that critical healthcare shipments are delivered in the right condition and on time anywhere in the world. This includes constantly advancing DHL’s systems that provide end-to-end visibility and ensuring compliance and product integrity throughout the logistics process, underscoring DHL Group's continued dedication to enhancing patient care, improving medical services, and fulfilling customer needs globally.
